"Changing Lives Through Love"
“God is light; In him there is no darkness...”
[1 John 1:5]
It is said you can have too much of a good thing. This may be true as it pertains to things that feed the flesh like ice cream. However you can never have too much of the things that feed the spirit and nothing feeds our soul better than the love of God. Welcome to the webpage of Lincoln UMC. Our church is a congregation whose purpose is found in our mission: Changing Lives Through Love. God created all humanity through the power of Love. Love is what makes it possible for us to have a relationship with God. Love is what makes it possible to love ourselves because we affirm our sacred value. Love is what makes it possible for us to Love you, not because we know you but because you are known and loved by God. We believe that Love is not just an empty platitude found on greeting cards and flowery sermons. Love is a free expression of our humanity as we enjoy the grace of God by sharing unconditional Love with each other. We are guided by biblical principles as understood through the lens of Love expressed in the redeeming sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Galatians 5:6 (NIV)6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
We hope you enjoy the information found on this platform. Moreover we look forward to meeting you in person so we can express our love of God by loving you just because you are you.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
One of the greatest signs of God’s love for us is found in the Christmas story. After generations of frustrations of rebellion by the people God created in His divine image. After giving the chosen people a covenant promise of provision and protection. After lifting up prophets, judges, priests and kings to lead the people. God was exasperated with the very people He loved. Instead of unleashing God’s wrath that would leave a trail of destruction and death. God made the sovereign choice to give more of Himself through the incarnation. Through a divine miracle that is found only in our faith tradition, God became like us, human. Scriptures reveals one of the great blessings of the Christmas season:
John 1:14 (NKJV) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth
The birth of Jesus was about God taking his relationship with humanity to another level. A level of intimacy and connection that could only take place through the birth in the manger. Humanity would now be able to experience this seemingly distant untouchable God, remember people could not even look at God or they would die, through this child born in swaddling clothes. So, this Advent season let’s focus on our relationships. Our relationship with the creator of the heavens and earth that invites us into intimate friendship that can never be broken. As well as our interpersonal relationships with the people God has placed into our lives so that we can share the power of love. The great thing is as followers of Christ we are not only called to love those who are like us, but those who are different:
Pastor George Nicholas
